Time to get out the mousse and slide down those baby hairs- wet look hairstyles are back for SS16.
This season we saw wet-look hairstyles make a prominent comeback to the fashion capital catwalks for SS16. At Missoni the models hair was “lacquered with mousse and hairspray”, the DSquared2 show saw “wet look locks” created by misting the models hair with product before being dragged through with a wide-tooth comb.
We loved the washed up waves and oil-slicked hair! Inspiring a dreamy beach feel perfect for a hazy summers day and a striking look for those wicked summer nights.
This is definitely THE look we’ll be trying this season.
Here’s our GHC top 5 tips on how to do your very own sleek wet looks at home:
Step 1. Begin with freshly-washed, semi-damp hair and run conditioning cream through hair from root to tip in small sections.
Step 2. Run conditioning cream through hair from root to tip in small sections.
Step 3. Section the hair in 3 parts and add two fingers of hair gel (or mouse) to the front, middle and back of the hair.
Step 4. Work through the hair with a wide-tooth comb and drag down towards the back of the head in parts. *Hot Tip- have a conditioning water spray bottle to hand, in case hair dries whilst combing.
Step 5. Style! For straightened hair you can pull hair tightly back into a ponytail, or let hang behind you. With curly hair you can create a parting and let the wet locks frame your face or pull to one side. Slick down the baby hairs into a pattern at the front or not- it’s totally up to you!
